Emilia Pérez (Latin American Spanish: [eˈmilja ˈpeɾes]) is a 2024 musical crime film written and directed by Jacques Audiard. Based on Audiard’s opera libretto of the same name, which itself was based on the 2018 novel Écoute by Boris Razon, the film follows a Mexican cartel leader (Karla Sofía Gascón) who enlists a lawyer (Zoe Saldaña) to help her disappear so that she may transition into a woman. Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir and Édgar Ramírez also appear in starring roles. The film is an international co-production between France and Belgium.

Plot
In modern-day Mexico, overqualified and exploited lawyer Rita is wasting her talents working for a large firm which is far better at whitewashing criminal garbage than at serving justice.
